Okay so we did get a footballer’s cousin in Charley but sadly no Natalie Rooney the boob flasher and they did give us the 11 females promised with a few being eye candy. Everything is going to be just great though because we get the lovely 18 year old blonde twins Sam and Amanda from Newcastle who claim they would share any fit blokes in the house and would apparently give him a “sandwich” and I’m sure they will entertain us by showering nude eh? I do get the impression they like the colour pink. Then there’s 19 year old student Emily from Bristol, who’s a bit posh, and claims she is really really intelligent. We can expect some entertainment as she says that “honesty gets me into trouble”. She is used to dealing with twins as she has twin sisters! Shabnam apparently still lives with her mother in North London. She has already scared me, for example wtf is all that with wanting to be taught everything and showing everyone her bra?? Ah and of course we have Chanelle the student from Wakefield who thinks she is Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice.

The UK’s television regulator OFCOM has finally delivered a verdict on the controversial Celebrity Big brother racism issue just in time for the launch of the new (normal) BBUK for 2007. Most complaints concerning the mimicking of accents, using the term “white trash” and of course the issue at the center of the incident, where Jade and Shilpa argued about an OXO stock cube, were considerfed “not in breach” of any broadcasting regulations. The matter of Jade Goody referring to Shilpa as “the Indian” is deemed resovled although OFCOM felt that Davina should have been “firmer in questioning” during the eviction interview. They concluded that the show did breach the rule that “Broadcasters must when applying generally accepted standards ensure that material which may cause offence is justified by the context”. Three incidents were highlighted: (1) Jo and Danielle’s remarks about cooking in India, (2) Danielle’s “fuck off home” and “can’t speak English properly” and (3) Jade’s infamous “Shilpa Poppadom”. Although the main breach actually involves something Channel 4 didn’t even broadcast. Apparently on the evening of Tuesday 16 January after the stock cube fight, a discussion took place with reference to the term “Paki” through rhyming slang. Even unbroadcast, OFCOM felt it demonstrated C4’s lack of proper control over the show content. There has been no fines but they are being forced to air 3 apologies on different and significant occasions.

If you’re bored you should checkout some of the complaints OFCOM has to investigate. For example, in err they call it Issue number 74 on 27/11/06 you’ll see a little way down the page that a total of three viewers felt that Jayne Kitt refering to herself as a “cunt” to housemate Nikki Grahame and then shortly after using the word “fuck” was unacceptable before the watershed.

I am so excited about the 2007 Big Brother coming up in the UK. There’s alot of leaks and gossip floating around so I’m going to summerise some of it here. Firstly beingbigbrother.com have managed to get hold of a picture of the new and very sexy BB bathroom by trying some old bookmarks from last year. They also got a sneak peak at the Channel 4 test site for this series, which seems to suggest on the nominations page that there will be an eviction really early on (Friday 1 June) just two days after the launch date. We’ve all heard the rumors that toasters and kettles and maybe more will be classified as luxury items with access controlled by Big Brother, and the suggestion is that maybe such a nice shower etc could also be under the same system. I hope they get plenty of access for showering and plenty of nudity uncut too hehe. Oh and don’t worry it’s still the same old format in terms of our lovely presenters Dermot and Davina. Oh and checkout that cool retro telephone we’ve caught a glimpse of to stir further gossip about it’s purpose in the big plan for this season.
